The human mind works in wondrous ways and it can do anything it wants to. But this would be true only if it has the unwavering strength of determination, of the certitude to reach the goal it has chosen for itself, of the freedom of choice it exercises in deciding the kind of life it wants to pursue.

What others might say to you will not hamper your decision, the dogged willpower; will take you far than what people predicted it will be. You will not succumb to defeat. You will carry on living. With faith in God and confidence in yourself, and with strong determination, you can achieve the impossible.

I have seen that power of the human mind with my very own two eyes. The person being is my Grandmother.

Almost 3 years ago, she had a bad fall and fractured her back and with old age catching up to her, her body was overtaken by stroke and pneumonia. But her mind is not at all clouded by the diseases her body is suffering. She has a mind of an energetic child trapped in a worn out shell. One can see it through the movements of her eyes scanning the area that surrounds her.

Doctors, two years ago, gave her only days. And 3 days ago, gave her a day or two. The indications of the body said so. However yesterday, my Grandmother undertook a rapidly tremendous recovery and she was able to go home. The mind says no.

I am not sure what she is fighting for. Is she waiting for something or someone? I wish I can read her hand signals, I wish she would say something.

However, one thing I know is that her spiritedness, determination to go on living, mind over body really is admirable. Definitely a tough fighter.

With Admiration and Love,

Nizam
