Why is it difficult for some people to be direct when they want something or when being posed with a certain question? Being direct should be a straightforward technique where you want something you ask for it, and get straight to the point. Its the same when giving a reply to a request. Being direct will benefit both parties.

Being direct of course saves time and help reduce the probability of misunderstandings. It enables honest discussions whereby people dont need to make second guesses to what you are thinking (for all you might know they might think of the wrong reasons and when they do - misunderstandings and conflicts arises). It will also lead to a win win situation. It will make things a whole lot easier.

When you are not direct to the people around you, it might lead to several problems. Things dont go the way you want them to (coz you are not being direct - duh) as some people cant guess what is it that you want. As a result you feel resentful and others will stop asking you questions anymore, and begining to lose trust in you.

People are afraid to be direct as they often think that it will upset others, make them seem arrogant and selfish, inconvenience other people wen they asked questions and thus think that others will hate them. This is not true unless you are being irritating in asking those questions or something that is more of a one sided win.

In actual fact if you do not be direct you will frustrate others by not saying what you want. You deny others of the opportunity to help you, which they would very much like it not to be asked and wen you are not direct, you appear insecure or oversensitive. And most of all you inconveniece others who really want to help you because they have to spend time working out how to go about helping you and how not to offend you in the process.

Therefore, being direct more often than not is a much better option. Being direct is being honest and showing integrity.
